The Volcanics - In 3-D Vinyl LP (Half Red/Half Blue Vinyl)

The Volcanics are faves in the surf music community for a variety of reasons - they are talented musicians, super nice guys and best of all, they deliver some of the finest traditional surf inspired tunes you'll ever hear. This new album is perhaps their best yet - and that’s saying a lot! The lead single, “Charlie Horse”, is a melodic stomper with a great Astronauts-style chug to it. Then there’s “Bingo!”, which takes the rhythm of the Pyramids classic “Penetration” and takes it in a new and satisfying direction. “Hall Pass” is inspired by those kookie, fun and awkward days of high school, and on the other side of the spectrum, “Booby Trap” is a sinister slow stomp perfect for the Halloween season. “Spin Out”, the sole vocal cut on the disc, is a fun, poppy tune that captures the boys harmonizing over tasty, reverb-drenched guitars and the sounds of hot rods burnin’ rubber. Overall there is absolutely no filler on this platter - just 12 songs that show off the incredible talent of this SoCal trio. Oh, and the cover art is fun as well, inspired by 3-D films and imagery.
