Messer Chups - Church of Reverb Vinyl LP (Hi-Tide)
Celebrating the 10 year anniversary of this awesome 14-track album, Hi-Tide Records has given it an update with brand new cover art by Grey Haas and a pressing on bone (off-white) vinyl. This is one of the top albums by the band, as it is a great collection of tunes with irresistible rhythms, occasional sax and organ work that gives the songs added flavor, and of course, the unparalleled guitar work of Oleg Fomchenkov (aka Guitaracula) who’s playing is intricate, melodic, powerful, reverb-laden and just simply irresistible to listen to. While the band really hasn’t ever released a bad album, or a boring album, I really feel that this one above all of the others is the perfect one to introduce a newbie to. The atmosphere and the melodies really are such that non-fans of surf music could actually really dig this album. The attractive cover art and vinyl just adds to the appeal.
Note: This is pressed on spectral blue vinyl and does not come with a download card.
