The Dirty Licks - Dusty Boots and Snake Skin Suits CD (Self-Released)
The first thing you’ll notice when listening to the debut release from this Tucson, AZ combo is the fire, energy and grit - their sound is a near-equal blend of garage and punk, with a spaghetti western influence. There are a few songs that lean more in one direction than the others though - the song you’ll hear on this issue’s CD, “Van Cleef”, is not surprisingly the most Morricone-esque of the songs on the album. There there are songs like “Sonic The Wave Hog”, which is probably the most surf-influenced of the songs. This all-instro disc shows off a great span of sounds and covers just about any genre loved by instro fans the world over.
