Frankie & The Pool Boys - The Stargazers / Breathing Your Air 7” (Hi-Tide / Ferocious Doberman) 

This new 2-song 7" is simply amazing - the two brand new recordings are definitely up there with the best songs the band has ever laid to tape, or hard drive, or however they did it... Anyway, getting to the songs, the tunes are just great summer tunes - it’s a cliche, but it’s just the kind of instrumental rock that you want to listen to in your car, with the volume turned up and the windows rolled down. The production is absolutely top notch - with each player given equal space on the songs. While Ferenc on lead guitar will get a great deal of attention, his wife Karen shares the spotlight here as well, with some great keyboard/organ playing, especially on the b-side “Stargazers”. The colorful cover art comes courtesy of Julian Weber in Berlin, and the songs were recorded and mixed by Evan Foster in Seattle. Which probably explains why this sounds so dang good!
