The Razorblades - New Songs For The Weird People CD (General Schallplatten)
This release from this long-running German combo, led by guitarist Martin Schmidt, is one of their best - a 17 song opus that truly has something for everyone. It kicks off with a vocal tune, a catchy number, yet instro-fiends don't fret - there are plenty of instros here. Great, crunchy, powerful tunes that feature a powerful rhythm section, but all highlighting the spectacular talents of Schmidt. The songs are strong, the production top-notch and completely perfect here, and there is a good variety of styles on display. There are also some incredibly imaginative song titles - in reality instrumental rock songs can be called just about anything. However, how can you not like titles like “I Can Smell The Summer”, “Too Much Money Is Bad For Your Complexion”, “Thanks For Dressing Up, But I Like Girls In Sneakers”, “Cosmopolitan For Breakfast” and “The World Looks So Much Better Through My Shades”. I've always been a fan, but this disc is definitely their strongest yet!
