The Untamed Youth - Git Up And Go Vinyl LP (Yellow Vinyl) (Hi-Tide)
After a long, 27-year wait, we now have a BRAND NEW Untamed Youth album, packed with 16 recordings done between the SG101 and Tiki Oasis festivals in the summer of 2024. What is absolutely wild is they really don’t sound too different from their heyday. It’s a fun rock n’ roll album with songs about cars, girls, surfing and beer. As with all of their albums, they’ve been influenced by all of the great bands of the 60’s - The Hondells, The Standells, The Chantays, Davie Allan and others, yet you’ll hear some things that may surprise you - a big one being their cover of Buzzcocks’ “What Do I Get?” There are some incredible instrumentals, “Reverb Bum” and “Carbonation”, plus the vocals “Don’t Fight It” and “I Like That Kind” (which actually is a cover of an obscure country song by Johnny Bond). Speaking of instrumentals, since I know all of you love ‘em, there are 3-4 instrumentals out of the 16 tracks (one of the tracks, titled “Beer”, just has the word beer sung/chanted a few times). The album features guest appearances from Chris Montez (“Let’s Dance” and the original “Some Kinda Fun”) and Tony Andreason of The Trashmen, plus a few other talented musicians to flesh out the sound on a few tracks.
Note: This is pressed on yellow vinyl and does not come with a download card.
