V/A - Genki Genki Panic / The Jagaloons Split 7” EP (Otitis Media / Goblinhaus) 

This is a great four song EP by two of the more adventurous surf/instro bands playing today. There are two songs from each band - starting off with Genki Genki Panic they contribute “Camp Crystal Lake” (any Friday The 13th fans out there?) and “The Spectrophiliac” - both songs definitely feature spooky melodies, and interestingly, I’d say they are probably the closest to straight up surf you’ll hear them play. Flipping it over you get two songs from The Jagaloons - “Beyond the Exclusion Zone” and “Espionage”. They definitely are more of a traditional surf/instro band, but the two songs are excellent and exude a spy-fi / interstellar surf feel. If you haven’t heard either of these bands yet, this plastic platter works as an excellent introduction to both of ‘em. Pressed on cool clear vinyl with lime green splatter streaks and includes a download card.
