The Delstroyers - 10,000 Ways To Die LP (Hell Hop)

You're gonna love this new 2022 release by The Delstroyers - it's guitar and organ attack gives their powerful, driving modern surf sound a spooky vibe, with a few songs that veer closely towards Ghastly Ones territory. However, mostly they have their own thing going - there are songs where one guitar is playing a line with a sound that seems pulled from an early 60’s classic, while the other guitar has a crunchy, modern, distorted sound. The production sound is spot on - the guitars are right up front where they should be, the drums and bass are powerful and the organ slinks in and out from the background to the foreground when needed. “The Suffering” was probably my favorite tune - while it’s not representative of the disc as a whole, it has a dark surf/exotica vibe and great interplay between the lead guitar and organ. This is a great follow-up to their well-received debut album, Diabolical.
