The Apollo Four - In Orbit Vinyl LP (A4 Records)

It's the debut full-length record from these long-time Portland, OR surf rockers from the heavens above, The Apollo Four. They've released a couple of EPs over the years, and played lots of shows, but this new 12 track album shows what the band is truly capable of. The music leans towards the traditional side of surf, but there are modern flourishes and production techniques as well. There's an equal mix of covers and originals - the originals are imaginative and catchy, while the covers are well-chosen and fairly obscure. I mean, there's a cover of "Ladykillers" by the legendary UK shoegaze band Lush, and "The Metro" by new wavers Berlin. Amazing cover art as well!
