Satanic Puppeteer Orchestra - Surf The Web Vinyl LP (Clear Vinyl) (Self-Released)

What a weird, strange and fun project this is! Professor B. Miller and singing robot SPO-20 are in the middle of releasing 20 themed albums, all released on very limited edition vinyl and sporting gorgeous and eye-catching artwork by famed artist Derek Yaniger. It just so happened that the theme of this one, surfing the web, tied in perfectly with surf music and so the 8 songs have driving surf beats, organ, synths and twangy guitars. The robotic singing of SPO-20 is actually more spoken word, and sounds a bit like the vintage educational toy Speak & Spell. The style of surf/instrumental rock here is probably more in line with the Tiki Tones, Stereophonic Space Sounds Unlimited and 50 Foot Combo - not really vintage or modern surf, just fun instrumental music with a robot speak/singing occasionally. It’s not going to be for everyone, but that’s not the point - if you like quirky, fun, groovy music a little out of the norm, this is definitely worth checking out. And hey, the cover art for each of these is so brilliant that it’s probably worth getting one or all of them for the cover art alone! Comes with a free computer mouse pad!
