Surf music has always seamlessly joined with other genres, keeping it relevant and current. Surf bands Par Avion and Perro Agradecio joined forces last winter in a Mexico City studio, creating a fresh new sound driven by the cumbia rhythm. Side A has two songs with the bands collaborating; the sound of the nine musicians working the groove hard creates an infectious dance party, with a beat for your heart while tropical melodies swim in your head. Guitarists Bernard Yin and Sys Malakian playfully work off each other, while solidly anchored by Dusty Watson on drums and a batteria of percussion and bass. Side B features individual tracks by the bands, so the sound is more typical of their native styles, though definitely influenced by the positive vibes of the recording situation.
