King Pelican - Matador Surfer CD

Item Detail:

King Pelican - Matador Surfer CD (Deep Eddy)

In the works for over a year, King Pelican have finally released the full-length follow up to their debut CD-EP release The Good, The Bad & The Reverb. Unfortunately their crowd funding efforts fell a bit short last year but Deep Eddy Records, always on the lookout for new talent in the surf/instro scene, scooped them up right away. Everything is spot-on here, from the cover art to the twangy and often reverb-soaked tunes. There's a Tex-Mex and Santo & Johnny influence on many of the tracks, but my favorite is the tune that kicks off the disc. "Sea Of Tranquility", which is a cool melodic, yet growly, tune sprinkled with NASA samples from the first moon landing. There is a lot going on here, but everything is sure to appeal to die hard surf fans all over the globe.

Tracks: Sea Of Tranquility - El Santo Stomp - Matador Surfer - Surf & Drag Twist - In With The Out Crowd - Western Satellite - Morocco - El Gallo - Stingray - Cricket
