The lineup for Deke Dickerson’s annual Guitar Geek Festival has been announced and man, it’s going to be another good one! Junior Brown is the headliner, but even more amazing (to me) is a West Coast appearance by The Trashmen. It will be on January 15th, 2011 in Anaheim, CA at the Anaheim Plaza Hotel. JUNIOR BROWN–Master of the Guit-Steel!
THE TRASHMEN–Minnesota surf guitar legends!
SKIP PITTS–Memphis wah-wah genius who brought you the “Theme from Shaft!”
DAVIE ALLAN–King of the fuzz guitar! Biker movie soundtrack king!
JOEL PATERSON & THE MODERN …

This is a show I really would have liked to see – three of my favorite artists of all time, who may have gone down different paths musically and may not seem like a very good fit together, but after seeing YouTube clips of the show they sound great! This show was put together to celebrate Jack Daniel’s birthdate, on October 7th (I just heard about it today). Apparently there is a connection between the three musicians though. Jarvis Cocker and Richard Hawley were in Pulp together, and Duane Eddy …

I am really excited about the upcoming Sound Of The Surf documentary, which will show the progression of surf music through the late 50′s all the way through today. Okay, so they didn’t get the painting right (they used a photo of their old lineup for reference, instead of the current lineup featuring original guitarist Starcrunch, plus new recruit Victor Vector). Still, any time you can get some high quality live recordings, for free, it’s a day to rejoice and crank up the hi-fi. Get ‘em here.
