The Untamed Youth will be touring Spain in June. Opening will be Deke Dickerson & The Ecco-Fonics – whatta bill! If you’re in Spain in a couple of months, here are the dates:
June 9 at Sala Nasa in Santiago
June 10 at El Sol in Madrid
June 11 at Sala 2 de Apolo in Barcelona
June 12 at Kafe Antzokia in Bilbao

Issue #17 includes huge feature interviews with The Kilaueas and The Dynotones, a gear report from The Surfites, and a show report from this year’s Deke Dickerson Guitar Geek Festival featuring the legendary Duane Eddy, plus tons of music and DVD reviews. Deke Dickerson recorded the music for the upcoming Johnny Knoxville film “The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West
Virginia”, which just debuted on June 27th. I haven’t heard the music yet, but chances are it’s a mix of his patented style of hillbilly, rockabilly, swing, western and surf rock.

Just a week from today I will be escaping the chilly NW (there was frickin’ snow this morning on my way into work!) and flying into sunny Las Vegas for the 2009 Viva Las Vegas festival. As excited as I am about that, I’m equally, if not more, excited about the Wild Records Showcase gig on Wednesday at the Rio Hotel, featuring The Barbwires, Omar & The Stringpoppers, Santos and Luis & The Wildfires.
