Guitar World magazine online has an interview with certified guitar legend Duane Eddy (“Rebel Rouser”, “Peter Gunn” & “Movin’ & Groovin’” are among his many hits). The Angry Breed, one of the Surfites aliases on their new Surfites & Co. CD, is featured on the new Garage Punk Hideout compilation CD, Songs The Hideout Taught Us, Volume Too. Their song is “Danger Ahead ’66″, and they are the only band to be featured on volume 1 and volume 2 of the series. The Hukilau Tiki Festival is back again this year for their 10th anniversary! Here is the scoop on this year’s festival:

A new CD for the Mondrean fashion shop based in Vienna, Austria, has just been released by Hit Squad Records. This 17 song CD includes “Surfville” by The Surfites, taken from their 2007 “Big Pounder” CD release. Other artists featured on this compilation are April March, Stephane Pompougnac, The Puppini Sisters and Fred Astaire. There’s going to be a huge surf music blowout in California at Suzy’s in Hermosa Beach, CA, on Sunday, March 27th. Guitarist Jonny Browning (aka Victor Vector in Man Or Astro-man?) is currently in the hospital with severe pneumonia, and has been since the end of the Man Or Astro-man? west coast tour a few weeks ago. He’s showing some progress and doctors are hopeful, but the longer he’s in the hospital, the more medical bills they will have.
